Subject: TT Surgery... Dermabond Anyone? - UPDATE

Thanks to everyone that replied regarding their experiences with Dermabond.  I gotta say - LOVE DERMABOND!!!

So 5 more days passed since my initial post at 8 days post TT. The edges of the glue were lifted everywhere with the exception of the immediate incision location.  It was literally hanging on by a thread when I woke up today so I took it off this morning and it came off with great ease.  There was a little residue (almost like the glue used to hold down a credit card to the paper that comes in the mail.)

I have however noticed that the sides are looking healed in the sense that they appear to be fused/joined.  The center of the wound however does not look flush!  It's not gaping but it looks a tad bit open.  My husband made a great point that the wound has healed internally and will now need to heal more externally but I just want to reach out and find out the general censes regarding the status of their incision after the glue removal.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?  My surgeon is out until next Monday.

Thanks and blessings to all!

Monica

I noticed no one has replied to you.  I'm sure someone will.  I did not use dermabond, but I did use inside stitches with steri strips.  A gauze bandage was taken off before I left the hospital; 3 days post surgery.  The steri strips were removed one week later; they were coming loose anyway.  When he removed everything I did not have any gaps.  The only possible space was where the drainage tube was, but it wasn't really a gap; just a bigger scar (it had already closed up).  I don't know if it can really be compared to your procedure, but I had no gaps.

Hopefully someone who used dermabond will be of better help!

I was one that had the glue.  I had no gaps once the glue all came off.  Mine was all gone within about 10 days, and it all looked "together".  I don't know if what you have is "not normal"  I would say if it starts looking bad, have it looked at.  I'm sure it's fine, just keep an eye on it.  Best of luck, Skylog
