When a friend was diagnosed last Feb I had a hard time finding any good news and was afraid he wouldn't be here through the holidays.  That was last year.  Surgery was not an option which of course made the odds worse.  What I have learned is don't focus on the odds.  He finished his radiation/temodar last fall and he now gets an infusion of Avastin and cpt11 every two weeks The results have been nothing short of miraculous.  The tumor is barely visible.  Other than short term memory loss and him getting in the way of himself, he is doing remarkably well.  I have never prayed so much in my life and am convinced it all makes a difference.  Never Never give up.

My wife dx 1/19/08 GBMIV left frontal lobe, non-resectable, doing great so far w/ temodar & avastin, 53 yrs old, radiation coming in the next few weeks.  How old is your friend?  I agree about ignoring the statistics - they are not  helpful.  This group is great, good info and great support from the front lines.

My friend was 49 at diagnosis, very fit, health food eater--you know the kind.  I was so jealous of him.  I keep reminding him that everything he did up to this point has helped him and he should not discount that.  I just don't know how to get him going again to live his life instead of just sitting around being lazy.  I love him but getting very frustrated.  My prayers to your wife that she experiences the same great results!
