Does anybody take torisel on a weekly basis with no rest in between treatments?  Also, does anybody take their infusions as a op at any other facility other than the hospital?

Thanks...

Hi Hurley, my husband is starting his first Torisel treatment at the Oncologists office as well on 6/23 - this is a tough battle, we all need to try to keep strong and keep fighting - sometimes the the unknown is so much worse than the actual disease.  I'm the caregiver and it is very hard on me as well as others around the actual person fighting this disease.  Please keep that in mind and keep me updated on your weekly treatments as I will you so we can compare and share our success after our 6 weeks.

My dad receives Torisel IV on a weekly basis, at the clinic.  He also receives Avastin every other week.  He had a CT scan today and his lung tumors are shrinking after being on this protocol for 8 weeks.  He started this protocol after being on Sutent with no results....tumors in his lungs actually increased in size.  Hope this helps!

Thank you Christina 18 - my thoughts are with you and your father at this difficult time.  Keep me posted on his progress as I will you.  I will look up the Avastin/Protocol and mention to our Dr.  Happy Days!

Hi Hurley, my husband had CT on Friday and results today of 4 weekly treatments of Torisel.  The nodules in lungs got larger.  So with three rounds of Sutent 4 weeks on and two off, 2 months of Nexavar, no luck and now 4 weeks of Torisel, no progress, he also had 4 awful last weeks with fluid in right lung.  Had two Thorensentesis (tapping of fluid 1700 cc total) and then ultrasound Aspiration with 1200 cc drained.  He also had a procedure to right lung going in through the side but fluid was jelled and couldn't continue, lung is considered stuck, plan was to do a Pluraldieses (putting in tube).  So with all that he is on oxgyen, has to sleep sitting up until recently he was prescribed Oxycodone to curtai cought and also the awful pain he has in his lower back from tumor (Psoas muscle).  So with that we start tomorrow on Avastin/Interferon treatments.  Avastin every two weeks 90 minute drip and Interferon shot under the skin three days a week for how long, we don't know.  How are you doing on the Torisel, when is your next scan?  Rich did his treatments right at the Oncologist office.  Keep strong and keep in touch.
