Hi my father has received 4 chemo treatments and his last blood test shows his CEA levels rising. The Dr said that its nothing to worry about. I thought that pretty much meant the chemo was not working. How many chemo treatments does it take before you should see the CEA dropping? Im worrying but I guess you have to listen to the Dr, he knows more than me. Mindy

Yes, you should be concerned, but don't panic. If it continues to rise, they should do some more scans to see what is happening. A probable response would be to modify the chemotherapy. Fortunately for us, there are a lot more options now than a few years ago.

My wife had a similar experience. (Stage 4 colon cancer.) She's doing better. We're hoping and praying for a cure.
