Subject: Malignant Pleural Effusion but no tumor??
Date: 06/06/2008

Hey,

My grandma (age 74) was diagnosed with stage 3b lung cancer last week. Apparently its a recurrence of her breast cancer that she had over 25 years ago. She has Malignant Pleural Effusion around her lungs, but no tumor. Has anyone heard of this? If so what are the chances that the cancer has spread to other parts of her body? If she decides to take chemo again what are the her chances of survival. Keep in mind there is NO tumor. The doctor seems optimistic, but how do you beat cancer when you cant pin point it?

 thanks,

bobby

Sorry obout your granma she has a tumor it the  malignant cancer fluid thats accumulates in her chest, I know Malignant pleural effusions are caused most commonly by carcinomas of the breast, but 25 years that a long time is there a lot of fluid being drained from her chest I know of another lady she said at one stage she had all most no blood supply to her left lung as it has collapses she felt better after the cather  she said that For most  patients there is only three treatments she know of  They include pleurodesis, surgery, and home management with an  pleural catheter. she said if she has got to Drain the malignant cancer fluid thats accumulates in her chest, other wise  the lung will collapses leading to a lack of  oxygenation and shortness of breath. dos she have a lot of chest pain, cough, and/or fevers. be fore she did it at home she had from one up to 7 day stay in hospital there must be a beter system then this. about chemo.  Iv Learned from another cancer patents that when cancer get establish it very hard to kill. Chemo only kills off fast growing cells. Chemo will attack any fast growing cells ( weather it cancer or not and this includes the bodies defenses ) with a large  blood supply. This is why cancer patents hair falls out. After chemo all of the long establish cancer cells are still there what doctors then use is radiation to kill off the remaining  cancer cells but it wont kill all of them. What is needed now is fore the body defenses to go and attack the cancer cells but the cancer cells has now become resistance to the chemo and the chemo and radiation has also destroyed most of what was left of the body defenses against cancer these cancer defenses can build up giving enough time the problem is the cancer is now building up to so the cancer starts growing faster then the body can fight it the trick is three days after treatment with the chemo when the chemo has been filtered out of the body start takeing antyoxidants to builds up the body defenses again. Natural remedies do work against small tumors as poople take to  smaller dos  problem is the cancer adjust to them fast and after a short while they dont work any more the trick is to keep changing them  Graviola works real will aginst cancer but again only for a short time 30 days max so also dos vitamin C in large doses stop working aginst cancer in two to three weeks the good thing is the Vitamin C builds up the body own defences so it can fight the cancer better. with the proper treatment I feel she may has a good chance it all in Gods hands  Will that all boby66 take care Ray

Hello,

I have the same condition plus a tumor. What seems top  be working for me is a combination of Alimta (a chemo drug) along with  mushroon extract tablets taken twice a day. The tumor is shrinking and I am feeling much much better. The mushroom extract is from the coriolus versicolor. Bob H

hey,

jcr65566 and Hydroman thanks for your advice. She has her appointment with the oncologists on 6/11. I will definitely be asking him about the various treatments you guys mentioned. By the way Hydroman...since you have a closely related problem to my grandmother, what was your original prognosis and how long have you been fighting your cancer w/ the pleural effusion?

Thanks a lot guys,

Bobby

Hi Bob H,

My Dad was just diagnosed with a very rare form of lung cancer:  a pleural tumor and that's it - no cancer elsewhere.  He's been given tarceva.  I was wondering where you're being treated, what the mushroom extract is supposed to do for you and if there's any advice you can give him.

 Thanks,

Stacy Schu
