Hi Folks :)

Have YOU or anyone you know had any success with low dose naltrexone in treating cancer? I have been taking it for 5 months now, with a bone scan due next month (which will hopefully show improvement!) I was diagnosed with breast cancer metastatic to bone two & half years ago, six weeks after my initial diagnosis. My general health is excellent, I have no pain or symptoms.I feel no different since prior to diagnosis.

After diag. I left my husband; lost my house;  and started a new life with my two young daughters which is wonderful. I read and research daily, in regard to all things cancer. I have particular interest in psychoneuroimmunology;nutritional/vitamin supp's; qigong/tai chi & yoga and the power of prayer.

I have devised my own regime of some fifteen to twenty supplements. I heard about Low Dose Naltrexone at a cancer information support group I belong to. In the availavle research, four women with BrCa metastatic to bone went into remission, so I thought it's worth a try! Side effects are negligble. I've also tried intravenous vitamin C/alpha lipoic acid therapy last year, with no noticable effect.

The language of cancer and society's/medical profession's attitudes is another area I would like to see addressed. The way we are told about our diagnosises; our prognosises; treatment options and alternative points of medical view drasticly need review and improvement!! Cheers, H xx

My Doctors have always treated me with respect, gave me the informationI I have needed in a timely fashion. and cared greatly about me.  They have saved my life.  I am sorry you have had a bad experience.  Let's be fair here.  They are few out there that fit your description but many, many of us have the highest regard for those in the medical profession. That is the norm.

Hello,

I agree that not much has been done to research alternative treatments. My mother has been taking LDN for gallbladder cancer since February and is so far doing well. Her latest scan showed that the lesions have reduced in size significantly. She completed six rounds of chemotherapy and is also taking an ayurvedic medicine. So, I don't know which has worked. I should say that the oncologist did not give us much hope when we started chemotherapy and was quite surprised to see the results so far. I don't want to sound too hopeful since I am always afraid that the cancer may come back, but if my mother is able to maintain the status quo, that would be more than enough.

I would suggest continuing with LDN. I have a strong feeling that it works.
