Pancoast Tumor

Subject: Pancoast Tumor

Hello All,

One of my best friends Father was told last week that they suspect he has a Pancoast Tumor.  Anyone out there familair with this type of dx and what may lay ahead?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

pancoast tumors make up less than 5% of lung cancers and are located at the top of either lung.  Their location can make surgery difficult so RT and chemo are used. Most are NSC.  Prognosis depends upon stage at diagnosis.

Thank you for the response. So if caught early, can the prognosis be somewhat good...at least as far as lung cancers go? I recently lost my Mom to SCLC, so we're all just looking for some better news here. We should know more about the particulars of the diagnosis this week.
