Sorry if this comes thru twice--typed it once and it "disappeared"anyhow--I would very much like to hear from anyone that has experience with the intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemotherapy. My son--who is 25 has been thru 18 months of chemo--has had the Folfox plus 5-FU, the Folferi plus 5-FU (both with Avastin) and is now on weekly Erbutux and Camptosar. He has had two surgeries. So far the cancer is still confined to the abdomen and that is why his oncologist thinks he would be a good candidate for this--wants to send him to Wake Forrest to have it done. It is hard to find much information about it and would love any personal experience--good or bad--we have a big decision to make. But he is running out of options. Thank anyone for responding--

 

I really know nothing about this procedure, except that another person I have met you also has a young son (age 22) is down at Wake Forest right now for the exact same problem.  He hasn't been going through the chemo for as long as your son but is having similar problems.  This is the procedure and surgery that was recommended for him.  PM me and I will give you a site that you can go to to read up on his story and maybe get some answers.  I believe you can also send a message to his mother on that site and 'talk' with her.

My Dad is hoping to have this if chemo shrinks enough first.  We are dealing with Shady Side Hospital and Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh with Dr. Holtzman... they are fantastic!
