i have stage 4 colon cancer. undergoing chemotherapy at a university hospital. my employer is switching insurance to kaiser next month. is anyone familiar with getting treatments at kaiser? are they less aggressive with treatment? are their doctors equally competent? is their standard of care the same or inferior? do you have success stories while getting treatment at one of kaiser centers?

My dad was diagnosed with colon/lung cancer in April.  He is 83 yrs and has been with Kaiser for 50+ years.  He has the same oncologist a co-worker had when she went through breast cancer treatment.  She had nothing but praise for her. I understand the cancer dept at this Kaiser is more than competent.  I haven't met the doctor but have left messages with her nurse and always received a reply.  Because of his age his treatment is not as aggressive; 2000mg of Xeloda a day for ten days.  He's in his sixth day and so far no side affects.  I do wish a little more was offered by way of nutritional information.  This our biggest concern, trying to get my father's weight up. Good luck with your treatment.
