So sorry about your dad's complications. They need to clear up any infection before starting chemo since chemo wipes out a lot of the white blood cells, which are needed to fight infections. Even with a surgery with no complications, the patient is usually given a month to rest, heal and gain some strength before starting chemo. Express your concerns to the dr. and maybe his explanation will relieve some of your anxiety. I know this is hard. Good luck. Please keep us posted on his progress.
