Has anyone ever used or investigated the subject alternative cancer treatments??? A friend sent me some paperwork on them along with many testimonials including their phone numbers to be able to talk to them. There is a volunteer group here called H.O.P.E./cancer support:

www.RationalWellnessGroup.com which is supporting them and of course they only promote the good stuff and I was just wondering what kind of stories are out there from "regular"  people.

Hi DebinMichigan There are a good number of members on this board who have successfully used alternative medical treatments for their various cancers. Of course not all of our experiences will be the same since treatment (diet, supplements etc) will vary according to each individual's own deficiencies. There are tests that can be done by Naturopaths, Homeopaths or Alternative medical doctors that identify these deficiencies and then an individualized protocol will be utilized to bring the body back into balance and strengthen the immune system. One's immune system working at it's optimum level is an important key to healing. One treatment though that does seem to be universally effective is being offered by some oncologists as well. That treatment is Intravenous vitamin C. If you go to the alternative section of this board you will find many encouraging messages regarding individual success stories. Hope this is helpful

Be very carefull here.  There are no trials that have been conducted on alternative protocols.  Only incindental data about some patients who have used alternatives along with chemo and radiation (whatever is necessary) to achieve positive results. To use alternatives alone is very dangerous.  If you decide to go that way, make sure you are followed by an oncologist and have PET and CT scans and other tests to track the progress.  You don't want to be in the position of going too far down the road that it is impossible to switch back to the traditional.  There are those on this site that will lead you to believe that the alternative approach is successfull in all cases all the time.  That is very dangerous and misleading.  I have used the combination of traditional along with the alternative.  (Chemo, radiation and all the appropriate testing) and I am NED after three years fighting colon cancer.
