I lost my mum today

Hi to all reading this.

I dont know how I am finding the strength to write this, my mum died just over 16 hours ago of gall bladder cancer at the age of 63. She went into hospital on 9th March this year to have gallstones removed but they found that the whole gall bladder was basically infested with a tumour which was pressing against the liver. The doctors said the cancer was inoperable and put my mum on what was intended to be a 13 week  course of chemo.

My mum only managed to get through 5 of the sessions, she was having no quality of life to speak of at all and it was decided to stop the chemo.

In the past few days my mum deteriorated at a frightening rate, I dont think she wanted to live anymore. When I last saw my dear mother alive yesterday I could see that it would not be more than a few days before the end came...so it was totally devastating to learn this morning that she had been taken by this wicked disease.

I feel absolutely shattered that my mother has gone....what else is there to say?

I am so sorry for your loss.  Words fail all who try to comfort you but know that you are in the prayers of many and your Mum is no longer suffering.  She obviously was very much a part of your life and I believe she will remain so as long as she is thought of , spoken of, and remembered she will always be with you.  God bless you and give you a peace that passes all understanding.

Thank you so much for your kind words..they are a genuine comfort in such a horrible time...I console myself that my mother is no longer suffering and is in a better place.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I too know what it feels like to lose a mother, i lost mine when she was 58, seems so young.  Nothing any of us can say will make u feel better right away but you know that she is no longer suffering,  I truly believe it is harder for us to lose someone because when someone passes on they watch over you and their loved ones every second of the day howeverall we have is the memory of them, we are not lucky enough to watch over them every day, we have to wait a lifetime.  Your mum would want you to be happy she is no longer suffering the pain and she would be proud that you stood by her through this.

keep your chin up

Hi,

So sorry to hear of your Mothers passing.  I know how you feel, my Dad was taken from us 4 weeks ago.  Today I feel empty as it's Fathers day and it has just dawned on me I will never seem him in this world again.

I still feel the need to visit this board to chat to people.  Hope you find the strength to get through the next few days.  Somehow you will find the inner strength.

I too felt relieved that my lovely Dad was no longer suffering but now I feel angry , why him?

Life does go on and we have to make the most of the time we have left.  My Mother is finding it hard but like I said to her we can help each other by keeping the memory of my Dad alive and by making sure we laugh lots, which is what my Dad would have wanted.

My thoughts are with you at this terrible time, lets just hope they can find a cure for this disgusting disease.

Thinking of everyone suffering, either as the patient or the carer.

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear mother.  I know your pain is great.  Keep your memories in your heart and she will live on.  Talk of her, share stories.  You will be with her again for eternity.  Until then, God grant you peace in your heart.

Diane
