Hi dos any one know any thing about Pawpaw my father says it help fight cancer. My father in his eighties he said he eats a one to two Pawpaw a week a few of his friends have told him it may have helped them with there cancers I went on the net a couple of sites say it dos help the body fight cancer if you eat a small portion every 6 hours if any one has come across this let me know Ray
I have done extensive research on the use of herbs and natural supplements and foods in the fight against cancer. I have seen many sources that say paw paw can help against cancer, I have seen some that say it's not effective. I have not, however, done a web search for the results of any research studies that may have been done on paw paw. I would recommend that type of search for anyone seriously interested in using paw paw for cancer. Time consuming, and sometimes frustrating, but perhaps the best way to get the facts.
I do know that paw paw is a very nutritious natural food that unfortunately has been deleted from the modern diet, as is the case with so many other herbs and foods. I think that is one of the reasons why cancer is so much on the rampage - we are no longer eating the ingredients nature gave us to fight abnormalities in our bodies.
One thing to keep in mind: not everything that has helped one person will help another. Individual body chemistry, presence of other disease processes, differing dietary and water intake, stress factors - all this and more play a role as to how effective individual substances can be at fighting cancer.
Having said this, I see no reason not to try paw paw, as long as there is no allergy or food intolerance, and as long as one checks with the dr to see if it will interact with any other drugs being taken or is contraindicated for any other reason. If you don't have access to organic paw paw, there are many safe extracts on the market, and I don't think paw paw is as prohibitively expensive as some of the other alternatives being offered for cancer.
I however, would not put all eggs in one basket: paw paw may or may not work. Best to be including other herbs/supplements or natural foods that have good track records as anti-oxidants, cancer-killers, health boosters. You can stop an intruder dead with a single-shot weapon only if you are extremely lucky or if you are a very good shot. Otherwise a shotgun may be much more effective.
Sincerely,
Tre
