We brought my father to hospice yesterday evening and he passed away tonight. My mother, sister and myself were with him. He lasted less than 2 months after diagnosis. He went downhill during the last 3 weeks.
He and his brother have not spoken for over 14 years. When my grandmother died my uncle felt that she should have had more money than she did and felt my father took the money from her (he occasionally asked for money to pay bills but she did not have much money). This greatly affected my father even though he rarely spoke of it. I called my cousin yesterday and she and her father (my father's brother) went to see him today. I feel that he was holding on for his brother. While I have no use for my uncle I am glad he went to see my father even though my father was so hocked up on drugs he could respond but I know he heard everything.
The wake is on Thursday and he will have a military burial on Friday. I had dropped out of all of my summer courses because I did not think that he would go so fast. My mother wants me to register for the second session to continue with my education.
Thank you to all for your invaluable information. Good luck to those who are still fighting the fight.
