TREATMENTS AND COSTS

My husband (54) was detected liver cancer 4 days ago. He has 2 tumors, one of them is almost 5 cm. The Hospital says he can not be elegible for transplant because he needs to stop drinking alcohol at least 6 months. He used to drink 6 beers daily for many years.

It started with a  pain in his stomach almost 2 months ago, the doctor though it was ulcera. 10 days later he came back to the hospital with more pain. Started with ascitis (fluids) and juindice ( yellow skin and eyes).

Now we dont know what to do. The hospital is sending him to take classes for alcoholics. He cant hardly walk and he doesnt want to see alcohol again in his life. By the time he started taking classes he will die. He is really feeling worse each day. His muscles are not strong anymore.

I wanna know a good alternative treatment  of juices. I tried with carrots, apples  and beets but my husband hates beets and doesnt accept.

Is there any product that we can buy and drink?

He wants to go to the emergency room  in two days but i feel i wont see him again.......i dont trust in this health system.........

I hear about radiofrequency ablation. I want to know how much it cost and where to go.

Im really afraid.

You are very lucky if he can be eligible for transplant after stopping drinking only six months.  Most of the time I hear a year of sobriety at the hospitals in Houston. The jaundice and acites are most likely due to the alcoholism and not the tumors.  I am a nurse   and have worked with many people who seriously abused alcohol and it is a serious thing to withdraw from. This should be done under medical supervision preferably under the care of an addictionologist...a doctor who specializes in treating patients addicted to alcohol or other drugs. The effects of chirrhosis can be very serious and at this point that might worry one more than the cancer
My son Mark age 48 has liver cancer and has had it for over three years. He has had only chemo for it but we have contemplated other treatments which the doctors always talk us out of.  You can read about Mark on a blog i write by goggling Mark Richardson The next adventure. It might help you.
