Cea Count

For a non-smoking male, a normal CEA level is 0 - 2.5.

For a non-smoking female, a normal CEA level is 0 - 5.

However, you can have a "normal" CEA level and still have colon cancer.

For some people CEA is a good indicator of what is happening with their colon cancer.  For others it is not.

Sometimes, the CEA count can remain elevated for a while after surgery.  I just had surgery a month ago and my CEA levels last week were a little over 3, which isn't too elevated, but some. I was told this was normal for now & it should go down in the next month or so.  My Dr. said if I actually had a new tumor growing back, that it would be much higher than that.
