I have head lung cancer for the past 2 years. When I was first diagnosed doctors told me I had about six, seven months to live. I had one round of chemo and the cancer stopped. At that time I had a cea level of 694.

The cancer has proven to be progressing slowy. In one year it has progressed 15%. But my CEA is now past 2000. Both my doctor and I agreed not to have any treatmnent unless the cancer would become aggressive. In the mean time my quality of life is slowly, slowly .... deteriorating. Am I doind the right thing ? Should I start treatment again or better to wait for the end without? I would appreaciate any comment

Hi,

Did you start out with stage1V?    If your started out stage 1V and the ca is progressing, then there may not be much available to offer.  We were just told that there are not any more treatments that would help my husband.  Only you can decide what is best for you but I would encourage you to talk with your family and get their input.  Best of wishes.  Margaret

I think this is a decision that only you can make with the right information. The sad thing is that doctors don't know which chemo will work for what patient. They just try and see. They can't tell you if it will work for you. So I think that you need to sit and talk with your doctor and make your decision. My mom did pretty well on her chemo for a few months. Then after 4different chemos they decided to stop treatments. She did take Tarceva but only for 2 weeks. Her cancer had mets to the brain and the docs feared that the Tarceva would increase the swelling so that was stopped. I told my mother this so I can feel ok telling you this. You need to make the decision for yourself. It was very hard when mom stopped treatments. In my heart I didn't want her to. I wanted her to keep fighting and try. But in my brain I knew it was the right thing to do. I knew that I wasn't the one going through the physical pain that she was. I wasn't the one who lost her hair or who was so weak she couldn't get out of bed. Anyway good luck with your decision and don't let anyone make you feel guilty for whatever you decide.

Hi,

If it is possible please take following alterantives.

Hi,

My mother was diaganised with IV staage NSLC on oct 2007.Doctors told that it is dificult to survive.

After 9 rounds of chemo, she is adviced to take  Genifitinib tablet one in a Day.

My mother health has been improved like any thing, on jun 2008 after Ct scan doctors are surprise and they are saying no nodes are found in lungs and liver node has been reduced from 4 cm to 1.3 cm.

It has has happend due to god grace and alteratives.

From starting she has taken Essaic tea and Grape seed and 2 clodes of Raw garlic with lunch and dinner.

One moth back we started Beta-1 3D glucan- after that only liver node has been reduced.

Beside this she was taking1 glass of carrot and betrote guice every day.

Now my mother is became normal person and she is taking food as usuall and continuing the alternatives.

Don't panic, if possible please take above alterantives and  do your best and ask your son to have positive mind and take  food with lot of vegitables and more water should drink evry day.

Definately it can be curable, don't lose hope definately god will help.

Regards,

Guru.S

Hi Guru.s I’m glad for you and your mother. Iv heard some good news from cancer patents who use alternatives treatment after chemo. It builds the body’s own natural system up again the ones weaken by cancer and chemo  especially the  immune system good going Ray

well my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 nsclc and given 6 months to live. she went through chemo and radiation and a number of blood infusions. she survived 7 months. this is something you and your family should decide together. you have survived 2 years congrats.  i no how tough this is for your family, i watced my mom go from bad to real bad in a short period of time.my mother had her treatmants not because she was afraid to die she had them cause she was afraid to leave her family so anything she could do to atleast prevent this fom happening she was atleast going to try.. born  may 7th 1959 died may 29th 2008

7 months before my mom passed my grandmother passed away from nsclc. she had only recieved radiation, so her siezures would stop.

i wish the very best to you and your family you will be in my prayers
