Lung Cancer

I am looking for information on end stage lung cancer. My sister was diagnosed with lung cancer almost 2 years ago. She has only had Novalis treatment for the past 20 months. Up until now it has "controlled" the spread of the disease. The doctors have always recommended surgery along with Chemo. She would not have any of it. Now the Novalis is not working as well and the cancer has metastized to her heart, pelvis, neck, scapula, liver. She is in great pain. The doctors still recommend Chemo. I am not sure why as I think her quality of life will be greatly comprimised. She lives alone and will not come back home to have her family help her. I am extremely worried as I don't think with the pain and no further treatment being disucssed (radiation) not to mention they took her off Tarceva as they deemed that ineffective that there is much more she can do. I guess what I would like to know is this what you would call the final stages of this disease? What more can she expect? Will she be able to care for herself if she refuses to have the help of her family? I am extremely frustrated & scared for her. I don't want to have her go through this alone. But I can't force her to do what she doesn't want to do. What do other family members of cancer victims suggest? And a side note to her...if you are reading this..I am sorry....you shut everyone out and I am forced to look for advise and help elsewhere.
