Stage Iv Lung Cancer

Hi.  I'm new to this board, but I know how helpful the Congestive Heart Failure board has been for me, and now I need some help with my son.

After 11 weeks in the hospital with blood clots in legs, feet, and lungs, several transfusions, repirator and feeding tube, my 39 year old son was dismissed from hospital in a wheelchair and told to get Disability.

Soon after, he developed a visible lymph node which led to CAT SCAN and biopsy.  They said he has cancer throughout body and it is non-small cell carcinoma.  They are treating it as Stage IV Lung cancer, but I have the impression they don't really know where primary is...just that it is throughout his body.

He has had one chemo so far...up in Knoxville, TN., at the Thompson Cancer Survival Center, which is supposed to be good.

Assuming this treatment does not work, has anyone any knowledge of the Issel's Center in Mexico?

Hi,

My mother was diaganised with IV staage NSLC on oct 2007.Doctors told that it is dificult to survive.

After 9 rounds of chemo, she is adviced to take  Genifitinib tablet one in a Day.

My mother health has been improved like any thing, on jun 2008 after Ct scan doctors are surprise and they are saying no nodes are found in lungs and liver node has been reduced from 4 cm to 1.3 cm.

It has has happend due to god grace and alteratives.

From starting she has taken Essaic tea and Grape seed and 2 clodes of Raw garlic with lunch and dinner.

One moth back we started Beta-1 3D glucan- after that only liver node has been reduced.

Beside this she was taking1 glass of carrot and betrote guice every day.

Now my mother is became normal person and she is taking food as usuall and continuing the alternatives.

Don't panic, if possible please take above alterantives and  do your best and ask your son to have positive mind and take  food with lot of vegitables and more water should drink evry day.

Definately it can be curable, don't lose hope definately god will help.

Hi Guru forgot to put this in the last post to you. I though Id let you know good choice with the Gefitinib, it is commonly known as Iressa. this drug is one powerful cancer killer the drug works by blocking (inhibiting) signals within the cancer cells, which prevents a series of chemical reactions that cause the cell to grow and divide. On the surface of many types of cancer cell are structures known as epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFRs). The receptors allow epidermal growth factor (a protein present in the body) to attach to them. When the epidermal growth factor (EGF) attaches to the receptor, it causes an enzyme called tyrosine kinase (TK) to trigger chemical processes inside the cell to make it grow and divide.

Iressa attaches itself to the EGF receptor on the cell and prevents the receptor from being activated. This stops the cells from dividing. Iressa therefore has the potential to stop the cancer cells from growing. It works in a different way from both chemotherapy and hormonal therapy.
