My miniture doberman 11 years old was just diagnosted with TCC. She is also diabetic and on insulin twice a day. She will not be starting Piroxicam. Does anyone know any supplements I can give her without affecting her diabeties that will help me do whatever I can to extend her time with me.

Thanks,

Some thoughts, although I am not familiar with their interaction with a diabetic dog. Can you substitute deramaxx for the piroxicam? It is often an alternative when piroxicam is too strong or not tolerated well. Next thought is to try oral frankincense. My dog has tcc and my holistic vet feels strongly about this, cod liver oil, and bladder strength which is a bladder strengthening supplement. I also have my dog on the Budwig diet which is flaxseed oil and cottage cheese blended. The ratio would be 1 tb oil to 1/2 c cottage cheese. I have had my dog on this for breakfast with low-carb dinner of home cooked plus innova evo and I think it has helped. Good luck.
