Hair Loss

I'm being treated for pharyngeal cancer with 7 or 8 rounds of Carboplatin/Taxotere, and the first round was almost 3 weeks ago. I am now losing my head hair in clumps. I have a wig so that's settled, but the Taxotere brochure said I would probably lose my eyelashes and eyebrows too. I'd like to know if anyone else has had this going on and if will they grow back. Thanks in advance,

 Becky

My best friend lost all the hair on her eyebrows and penciled them in.  There are some nice cosmetics out there that looked great on her.  Once her chemo ended, they grew back like they always were.

Hope this helps.

Between chemo and radiation, I lost all hair on my head below my ears ( I thinned out quite a bit up top), the backside grew back curly ( I have fine, straight hair) within about 3 months, my mustache grew back right after that, the rest is coming back very slowly, but the lower part of my face took a lot of radiation ( tonsil cancer with lymph nodes on both sides).

My girlfriend also lost her hair, which was straight. Now grown back it is thick and curly...

Says she should have had rad and chemo sooner, she was kidding

Good Luck

Hi Becky

My hair thinned out a lot and I also lost the hair below my ears (tonsil cancer - which I understand is common w/ this type of cancer because of the area being radiated).  It is still very fine but it is growing back (used to be fairly thick).  I had a dear little older lady friend who had brain cancer met to liver & kidney and she lost all of her hair, eyebrows, & eyelashes.  She asked her oncologist if her hair would come back red?  Thinking she used to be red headed in her younger years, he said that's possible.  She said, "Good, I always wanted red hair"!  All grew back but it wasn't red.
