Hello to everyone on this board.  I have been a member for over 2 years now and my dad past away almost 1 year ago from EC.

I am having a run to raise money for the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, specifically Esophageal Cancer Research.  For more info on this, plaese check out my website at www.frankies5k.com.

God Bless to everyone here.  I thank everyone for the support I was given when looking for answers on this site.

I just wanted to say to everyone who reads Katie's message to check out her website. You can see what a devoted daughter she is and what a special man her dad was. This cancer is just so awful and what Katie is doing is such a great thing to raise awareness of this disease. I ask that any of you that can do anything to help this cause please do. If you live in the area and are able go walk or run it please do. If you don't live in the area and are able to do so make a donation. I live in SC and I entered the race knowing I can't run it in person. I plan on getting up on race morning and just pretend I am there and pray and think about all the people with this cancer and their loved ones. I know Katie's Dad is proud of her and I know all of you are to for what she is trying to do.

Katie,

I hope this is the first of many annual runs for Frankie's 5K

Hi Katie

Great effort on behalf of your Dad. He would be so proud of you. Have friends in Seattle area and will send them a note about the event. We are over 2 1/2 years into the battle with an almost 23 year old son, so I appreciate the struggle it must be for you as a young person to have fought this battle, and to continue doing so by pushing for more research, etc. I've seen a few young people who have been very inspired to keep up the fight to honor their Dad's, and it's a wonderful gesture and offer of support. Thank you from those of us still fighting.

I was touched by your quote from "Life As A House". Saw it pre-cancer and in spite of the fact it broke my heart, it was one of my favorite movies which I've wanted to re-visit. Don't feel like I could at the moment; it would break my husband's heart (think I saw it one weekend when he went off to visit his parents a few years ago).

Many blessings on your event.
