I had a PET on June 24th and it shows a rather large abnormality in lung. There are 2 small anomalies; one in the left armpit and one that is in the neck. Both of these anomalies are too discrete to biopsy. Prior to the PET I had a needle biopsy that proved to be adenocarcinoma in the lower right lobe of lung
The oncologist has suggested an agressive chemo to see if the anomolies will disappear; along with the tumor shrinking. I will be given Carboplatin, Avastin, and Taxol as chemo treatment. After 2 sessions spaced 3 weeks apart, I will have another PET to act as a comparison.
If the results are positive, will start radiation therapy after that.
Does this sound like a normal course of action?
