Hi Everyone:

My wife is taking Avastin (only Avastin-no chemo) every two weeks for the past 7 months. We are fortunate that so far no new tumor growth, but she still is very sensitive to the medication. For the two/three days following the infusion she is very fatigued (which is listed as a possible side effect)  and has what can be described as a burning sensation throughout her body, including her head.

I just wanted to ask anyone out there who is on Avastin if they have experienced the same or simiar things? If so, have you found any additional meds or diet to deal with this. The side effects, while not nearly as bad as what she experienced from chemo , are still difficult and any information/advice would be welcome.

Thank you to all on this message  board!!!!

I'm in my seventh month of Avastin/CPT-11. After every treatment I get what I call the Avastin Flush. I'm red and flushed as if I have a bad sunburn, might last two or three days at the most. As for the fatigue, it comes and goes. Sometimes I push thru it and other times I have to give in to it. Everyone is different, of course, so your wife may feel these side effects to a stronger degree.  Good luck to you both. Keep fighting.

My husband is having a similar reaction except his seems to last 5-7 days.  He has had none of the typical chemo side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, etc...It is more like his brain is horribly irritated.  He has numbness, a severe headache, and lethargy.  I can't imagine how difficult it is for him because I can hardly bear to watch what he goes through.
