MD Anderson in Houston or Orlando

My husband has Stage IV lung w/mets to brain and lymphnodes.

Doing GREAT with Temador & 6-TG for brain and Tarceva for the rest.  He's had whole brain radiation along with Stereotactic radio surgery.  Very inovative and compassionate.

We are heading north to visit family for 6 weeks since he's doing so well right now.

Good luck

Menorah Hospital in Overland Park Kansas has a wonderful facility and well trained team. The hospital itself is comfortable and as inviting as a hospital can be.

Not sure where you are located but my boyfriend was treated at Rational Therapeutics in Long Beach, CA.  He had Stage IV Metastatic Lung Cancer.  He was diagnosed in April 2005.  He is cancer free today.  Dr. Nagourney is a genius/miracle worker.  He got many of the drugs that are used in chemo today approved through the FDA.  Years ago, he was one of the first doctors to take a biopsy and see what chemo actually works against YOUR DNA. So he tries single and multiple combinations.

Rick is now on Tarceva (1 1/2 years).  I HIGHLY recommend ignoring the doctor's recommendation that you don't remove tumors if you are young and healthy (they say this as they figure they'll pop up later but in SOME cases they don't).  Rick aggressively had two tumors removed (lung and adreanal) we STRONGLY believe that this helped him live as we got the "rat" out of the system.  So there isn't any big, bad masses in his body which we strongly believe helped him live.

In the beginning (4/2005), Rick at 6'2" lost 50 lbs (down to 140s).  Cedars Sinai and UCLA both gave him just 9 months to live.  After the "vanilla" chemo treatments stopped working, we went to Dr. Nagourney and are here to tell you the story that Rick is well.  He also cured another friend of Pancreatic Cancer (he was on his deathbed in Newport 10 years ago and is alive today).

So check him out.

Can never thank you enough for your response & encouraging news...Unfortunately, my father's cancer is inoperable (Stage IIIA - lymphs in sternum & in close proximity to heart et al, so the surgical route is not an option at this point or perhaps never.  He is so far responding well to chemo/radiation - tumor markers have fallen sharply to the low 100's but of course v concerned of further spreading via the lymphatic system ~  Am wondering the likelihood of curing the cancer once it has progressed to lymphs?!?  THANK YOU ~
