As we STILL wait for my Mom's CAT scan results we are thinking of centers best for stomach cancer. So far all we know is that she was accidentally found to have some ulcers in the antrum (distal part of stomach) with diffuse signet cell adenocarcinoma infiltrating lamina propria layer of stomach from endo. biopsy. Her blood CEA was 1.7 and other blood work normal. I live in NY she lives in Florida. I would choose Sloan Kett or MD Anderson in Texas or Cancer centers of America. She is thinking of somewhere in Miami, I think Jackson something that is assoc. with Univ of Miami. Does anyone know or have had good results at any place in Fla.? The waiting is the worst!! I apprec. any info anyone has Thanks so much. Ellen

Dear Ellen, I hope that you and your Mother are doing well and holding strong! I've seen Moffit (probably spelled wrong!) in Tampa recommended several times in regards to stomach cancer. Take care, Amy

Me again.  I would at least tell her to try CTCA.  They will pay to fly her in and pick her up at the airport.  Plus it would be closer for you too.

Andrea and I were both treated at CTCA - her in Philly and myself in Zion IL.  We both had very similar experiences - excellent care by everyone.  I would at least get a second opinion from them.  As Andrea said, they pay for your flight in, have a limo pick you up at the airport (who better deserves pampering than someone battling cancer), and pick up part of the housing tab.

Hi Amy, Thanx so much for your response, Moffit looks great and I would love if my Mom went there and I suggested it to her but it is in Tampa and my Mom is in Ft. Lauderdale and she thinks it's too far. She would have to fly there and b ack so I guess if she were to do that she might as well come to NY.She is very strong willed as far as what she wants to do which, I guess, will help her in whatever is ahead. Right now we wait, which I am having such a hard time with. She is wonderful, she is out and about everyday, going to the gym, out to lunch, to plays , out to dinner, (Eating is not a necessity in Florida, it's a social event!!). Anyway , thanks again for writing and how were your husbands scans? I hope all good news for you both. On Monday, my Mom will schedule her Pet Scan and upper GI series. Her cat scan had no hot spots (some low spots ) not even her stomach showed anything, so hopefully it is correct and that the cancer is in a very early stage. I'll talk to you soon. Much prayers and appreciation! Ellen

Hi Andrea and Diana, I know ,CTCA is a place I would choose because at one time I was being worked up for ovarian cancer (they thought at first it was a complicated cyst but after several other tests it was just a regular simple cyst) I was looking at places and CTCA in Philly was the one I would ve picked. I love that they do a lot with positive energy etc.. I work in a hospital and I see such a difference in people's recovery when they think positively etcc. Anyway, unfortunately the same problem exists with CTCA, none are close to my MOm. She is thinking of University of Miami, Sylvester Cancer Center. I'll keep you posted. Thanks so much for taking time to respond and prayers and good health to both of you!!! Ellen
