Less Costly Treatments?????

My brother went to an immunologist today to consult about alternative treatments provided by that institute.  He has battling colon cancer for almost 4 years and yet has the cancer in his abdomen, liver, lymph nodes, and rectum.   After all the surgeries, chemos, and a most recent trial study at USC Norris that nealy killed him, he talked with his regular oncologist and determined that it was time to step back from chemo, tests, etc. and let his body rest.  She told him that it was time to be selfish, enjoy life, and only do what he wanted to do.  He also  took disability from work.   So he had that appointment today and learned about the program of detoxification and building the immune system through daily massage, infra red lighting (I think it was called), Vitamin C IV, nutrition, and supplements.  It sounded good, all but the $5,900 for 4 weeks regime totalling nearly $24,000.  We believe the approach would be helpful, but there can be no promises made about how or if it could extend or improve the quality of his life, no one knows.  I'm wondering if there is a less costly approach???? What might be the best type of place to go to to get guidance/support with nutrition?  Are there places he could go to get something like the Vitamin C IV which sounds so hopeful for his body to get stronger and begin fighting the cancer itself?  How does he go about finding a qualified Naturopath or someone trained in the treatment of cancer patients?  Advice would be appreciated.

Would that treatment be at an inpatient facility for the four weeks? I do know that some of the inpatient clinics in Mexico are that expensive which may not be out of line if you consider what the cost would be at any traditional hospital. Where are you located? I have a directory for naturopaths, homeopaths and some medical/alternative doctors that might be helpful in finding someone to work with your brother right in his own area. Just as a point of reference for you I have copied the list of services offered and the costs of these services from the medical/alternative clinic I go to on an outpatient basis. I have tried to be careful to omit any information that might identify the doctor or the name of his clinic since I believe posting that information would be against this board's rules. I hope you find it helpful Chris. ______________________________________________________________ The medicine of the 21st Century will map out an individual's genetic uniqueness (genotype) and then give guidance around the types of interventions which would most benefit the individual's genetic expression (phenotype). Diet and nutrition, including specific vitamin, mineral and nutriceutical agents will be a foundational part of such a program. Specific and timely diagnostic testing for the early detection of disease potential in the individual will be another important part. Individual therapy for specific disease will complete this preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic triad. Although this is not available today in its totality, we have available to us what might be considered a preventive maintenance menu which spans the preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic fields. Thank you for your reply.  Mark lives in Yorba Linda which is in Orange County, CA, so he could go anywhere from Los Angeles County, Orange County(best), Riverside County, or San Diego County.  The place he went to yesterday would have the patient come in daily M-F and stay through the day for the treatments for maybe five hours: massage, infra-red, Vit.C IV, nutrition, & supplements.  So that would be almost to an inpatient setting.  The outpatient clinic you posted sounds like something that would work better for Mark's needs and budget.  Could you send me that directory or let me know where I could locate one?  Thanks so much!

HI there.. my father has pc to the bones and has done all the alternative meds/supplements/budwig etc... he juices everyday 2x a day - get a good juicer made for leafy green... needs to this everyday... wheatgrass, broccoli, cabbage (red), spinach, kale, dandelion etc..   also, yes there is a place in Newport Beach called the Whitaker Wellness center. they do Vitamin C IV - 90 each time... this would be so good for him... (www.whitakerwellness.com)

He has to build his system up - so major overahaul on his diet (do reasearch) no sugar, alcohol, meat (organic wild fish ok) brown rice and whole grain bread.. no more white bread, rice anything.. turns into sugar. Supplements very very important- high doses of Vitamin D, C- selenium- take liver and kidney supplements, etc.. Raw food diet is the most important, beans, lentals is okay. Do all organic!!

Also, yes my dad went to Mexico earlier this year and is still doing good.  Pricey??? Oh yes- 25,000 but worth it!  Now will all this cure him... no once can say- will he live a lot longer and have a better life - yes!!  He needs to get his body strong again.

Also- look into Essaic tea... an d Whole Food market will be your new home away from home. The nicest and closest one to you would be in Irvine at the District.. its a bit of a drive.. but every week or so is not that big of a deal... worth it.  if you want anymore info please do a private reply!

Do you know anything more about the Whittaker Wellness Center in Newport Beach? Can patients purchase the supplements there? Are the Vit. C IV's given on an outpatient basis? Thank you

I just signed up on this message board today so I know I am responding a little late.  I was diaganosed with hormone induced breast cancer in January of 2005. Being scared I immediately had a masectomy which also involved 5 of my lymph nodes.  I was scheduled for 8 Red Devil Chemo treatments.   I never really felt emotionally committed to the chemo and thought that it would cure me.  After just 2 treatments I quit the Chemo and rejected radiation or any monthly medication.  If you don't believe something will cure you, it won't.

I took Protocel for the next year.  This is a product that you can find alot of information about on the internet.  My nutritionist told me about it. Protocel has been around for many years in the US and has most extensively been used in Canada and other countries.  The cost is just $110.00 a bottle, which last for well over a month.  I took this 4 times a day.  No side affects whatsoever, it was great.  I have reached my 2.5 year mark now and my tumor markers are normal.

I truly believe that this saved my life and will continue to keep me healthy.  Anyone can take this and because it is about the highest antioxidant you can buy it will increase your immune system dramatically.  I believe there are many people that have taken Protocel for many different type of cancers and survived.  Not sure if this will help your brother but I know that it is a very good option, and one that most anyone can afford.

Research, research, research, that is what it is all about.  Look it up on the internet and follow through with people that have had the experience with it.  Prayer helps a lot too.

Good luck and God bless

Protocel (cancell) was determined to be ineffective against cancer by the National Institute of Cancer, NCI,  (In the 1980's)  Go to Wikipedia and search for Protocel or Cancell.  It is marketed as a supplement but it is illegal to sell or advertise it as a cure for cancer,  Is it toxic? - I don't think so. It shouldn't do any harm.

You should do more research.  All I know is it pretty much saved my life and from several people I have talked to that have taken it, it pretty much saved their life also.  Yes it is marketed as a supplement because they couldn't get it in the United States any other way.  As I understand from reading through the history of the product, at one time a major pharmaceutical company wanted to buy it because the research had been done and it virtually killed all kinds of cancers.  However, the founder wouldn't sell because he wanted it to be kept at a price the average person could afford to buy.  That would never happen if sold.

Being sold as a supplement they can't say that it would cure cancer or any other disease but the people that have taken it for many years can certainly say that it has done that for them.

I did the "research" and that was the conclusion.  What effect did your surgery, what chemo you did take , and prayer have on you recovery.?  There is no "research" out there that shows that this is effective.  If you feel it did what you say it did, that's fine.  When you try to convince others with only incindental data such as yours, that it is effective - that will be difficult.  If others want to follow your lead without trials and true research, that is their decision.  Would I wish it to be true - You Bet - anything that works and is proven to do so by tried and true trials will be the basis for my decisions in the future.  I  still may have a way to go even though I am NED after 3 years of fighting with chemo, radiation some alternatives and a lot of prayer.
