GET ANOTHER MD!!! You describe alot of my problems. You may have partial vocal cord paralysis, the breathing you describe sounds like "stridor" which is not good. That "junk" they left behind is what I will be having removed on Monday 7/28/08. My NEW surgeon will cut both sides of my neck to remove the "garbage/cysts/nodules" that are along my carotid artery, my thoracic duct and 1 large nodule remaining in my thyroid bed. There is no way possible to biopsy all that stuff. LISTEN TO YOUR GUT!
I have Stage IV Thyroid Papillary CA diagnosed on 10/18/07, with my first surgery on 11/07/07. Yes, I have had RAI131 therapy and I take 150mcg of name brand Synthroid. My PET scan came back good but my thyrogobulin level is a 7 and the MRI and ultrasounds don't look good. Supposedly- papillary is a slow growing cancer, well, I don't know why I am different, but my ca is very aggressive.
The next time someone tells you that "thyroid cancer is the good kind of cancer to get".....you tell them THEN they can have it!!! there is NO SUCH thing as a "good" cancer.
I would be the living dead if I had stuck with my onocologist. I found an endocrinologist who specializes in diabetes and thyroid ca. My Endo knows his stuff. PLEASE, please find yourself a new MD. You will be saving your own life.
