For the last few days she´s been having a lot of problems since her head skin feel like burning or itching. Is this normal? does anybody know what are the side effects of the radio? It is no surprise our scalps are burned. I had it, it subsided after awhile. I used to slather cream all over it to make it feel better--had no hair of course so that was easy. The itch was there, too and the cream helped that as well. Good luck to you and your Mom. Later, beyond radiation treatments, her plastic surgeon recommended she use Eucrin lotion. They are made by the same company I believe. Both were very helpful. I don't know that my husband felt a strong burning/itching, but his scalp was definitely more sensitive and red, like a sunburn, and the Aquafor/Aveeno seemed to help. My mom felt this same way during tx-- it really drys your skin. I think it's a side-effect of teh combination-- it just really dries your skin out and takes some time to get used to. It only lasted towards the end of the rad and I would say within a couple weeks after that-- it was gone! So just tell your mom she'll be ok-- if she can just make it a little longer.
