My father has always been a young 75 year old. 2 weeks ago he becaome  jaundice and I took him to the doctors. They admitted him right away. My father has been daigonsed with a tumor in his dudoem and pancreatic caner. The doctors have been really great in explaining everything. They say we may have up to five years with him after chemo/raditation and perhaps surgery. Does anyone know if this is the truth? I am not ready to loose my dad so soon after my mom. Can anyone help please?

I had treatment at the same time as a gentleman who had pancreatic cancer.  He had clean scans for 4 yrs 10 mo after treatment before it returned and he is currently undergoing treatment for the reappearance.  You say your doctors have been great - if so, it is important that you trust them.  They would not give you a time limit just to make you feel better - if they did not believe it to be true.  Pray - tell God what you told us here - that you will accept His will but you really are not ready to loose your dad so soon after your mom.  I (and many others here) remember everyone on this board in my daily prayers - they helped me to get through treatment.

Trust God and have faith.

I have PC and I'm doing very well after 7 months of treatment.  Surgery is not an option for me, right now.  But if given the option I think I would have the surgery.  Buying time now will give you more choices later!  Keep God close to you...I believe that Faith is what has provided me with the time that I have had since diagnosis and the promise of more time to come.  Help your father understand that a good positive attitude guided by Faith in God will make all the difference!

God Bless,

Mark B.

My husband was dx with PC 2 years ago. He has done very well on his therapy. Be strong for your Dad and he will be strong. I wish you both strength and prayers.  Helen

My father went for a lap procedure on Thursday to be sure that nothing else is effected. We go on Monday for our first visit with XRT. If his billurbim is down we may have our first dose of chemo. He has agreed to be part of a research group wtih a new therapy for pancreatic cancer.

Thanks for the positive feed back. I need all the help I  can get.
