Hello, My husband was diagnosed on June 12th. He is on Glewevec (it seems to be working well) but his joint pain is so intense. Anyone have any thoughts on this that we can talk to our doctor about?

HI TRASI:  I see your husband was just diagnosed recently.  How did they find it ?  If he is new on Gleevec, he will experience the joint pain.  I had it real bad in the beginning.  I have been on the Gleevec for 8 years now, and it does not seem that bad.  I do have periods where I do have a lot of pain, but I also have Arthritis.  I would talk to the doctor to see what he has to say, but talking to other people who are dealing with this for years can be helpful to you and your husband also.

Suzzie, thank you so much for getting back with me. We found out by a trip to the ER for pain. His slpeen was so enlarged that he could barely breath. Never expected this outcome. So grateful to here that you have been on Gleevec for so long. We are still so new to this that we dont know what to expect. We are staying positive!
