Does anyone have experience with adrenal mets from renal cell carcinoma?  What was the treatment?  My husband recently discovered he has both adrenals affected (2 years post nephrectomy).  Is surgery a good option or chemo or immunotherapy?  My research is indicating that it is rare for both adrenals to be affective so it feels like we are in unchartered territory.  If you have any information or experience regarding this, please write.

Hi! Lynne K, I have some experience in this area. In 3/97 I was dx w RCC, my left kidney along with the adrenal gland, lymphnodes were removed.I did my scans check-ups and after 8yrs. I was declared cancer free.In 7/07 I was dx with RCC w/mets to lymphnodes to lungs adrenal gland and in 12/07 inthe left shoulder also.I was treated w/14 rad treatments for the shoulder.I'm sorry I forgot to say I went to MD Anderson and was given HD IL2 in which I was able to take 14 doses. Then when it was found in the bone my Onc began Sutent. I have completed 5 cycles of 50 mg 28 days on 14 days off.My last scan showed no sign on my adrenal gland.I had surgery on my shoulder on the 17th of July, and am recupperating from that. Other than the pain from the surgery I feel great. Of course I have posponed the 6th cycle of Sutent while I heal from the op. I hope i was able to help you , if you have any moe questions please feel free to ask . Take Care  John
