Subject: The shoe just dropped....
Date: 07/22/2008

On 7/17/08 I posted that my mom was stable and yet I was just waiting for the shoe to drop. Yesterday she experienced severe seizures which put her in the ICU. Today her MRI showed a glio on the right side of her brain (opposite of the original tumor site) as well as growth in other areas of the brain.

Currently she is still in the ICU. Tomorrow we'll speak with the neurosurgeon about possible options but I am certain we will call in hospice and take her home. At this point she is not mobile and unable to speak. Monday morning she was fine, we went about our usual routine. Monday afternoon at 4:20 everything had changed. We are reliving almost exactly what we went through 14 mos ago. I can only hope that this time she will be at peace.

I don't know what tomorrow brings, but please pray for my mother.

Sincerely,

Holly

I am so sorry Holly!  I'm sitting on pins & needles with my own mom - 9mos out and things are too stable & quiet - I too am wondering when the shoe will drop for us.  Prayers to you for comfort and hope for mom to be at peace and pain-free.  (((hugs)))   Nikki

Hi Holly. I will pray for your mother, you, and for your family. I pray God will provide you and your mother with supernatural comfort and peace. My mother passed away yesterday from GBM, and it is so hard, but God has given us a sense of peace and strength. Take care. You are in my prayers.

Oh Holly, I'm so sorry you are having to go through this.  Yes, we all wait for that other shoe to drop, but also hope it won't.   I will pray for you and your mom.   May God give you all peace during this time and may he wrap his loving arms around you, so you will feel his strength and comfort at this time.  Please know we are here for you.  Be strong and know God is with you always~Many prayers and (((hugs)))coming your way.

Dear Holly,

I will keep you & your family in my thoughts & prayers.  I think each and every one of us caring for someone with a brain tumor always fears when the shoe will drop on us again.  That is one thing that no one seems to understand in the outside world.  When I tell this to friends, family, & co-workers it is like they don't belive this can happen, but the reality is things can change very quickly for us.  I will pray your Mom can overcome this lastest set back.

Holly, so sorry to hear you have entered this stage, and so suddenly. In spite of the grim statistics that hit us like a freight train when GBM first enters our vocabularies, we hope that the calm before the storm will continue indefinitely. I wish you, your mother, and your family peace as you continue the journey.
