Does anyone know of successful treatments for Ovarian Cancer? I have already done chemo. How about something to avoid breast cancer. I have the BRCA 1 gene?

Thanks for your time and help,

lynne

hi! i had ov ca since june 2006 & also the brca1 gene: the sure thing: mastectomy (altho i dont think its 100%): i've opted for mammo & mri's & ultrasound once a year, but am still pretty nervous about the whole thing: also self-exams once a month; was your tumor estrogen positive? then maybe tamoxifen could help as prevention

take your pick!

People have told my wife and I to try life make-over according to the book "Cancer Battle Plan". Keep you body chemistry tending towards alkaline as Cancer likes an "acid body chemistry" we have been told. What you eat can help take your body chemistry toward alkaline =basic. They have test strips out there that help you monitor your body pH.

Also many clinical trials out there now to help people stay in remission.  Look into "Mimosa Project" vaccine out of Italy. They are testing in USA now. http://www.mimosa-study.com/abagovomab_faq_frame.htm

Also if you know what protein markers were evident on your cancer there are alot of new drugs and antibody type treatments that target specific proteins on the surface of developing cancer cells. One example....Ask your doctor for your pathology results and if your tumor was expressing  Her2. If so this treatment (off label) at this link might be useful for you.   http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/BR/00012.html

Get your hands on your pathology report and search the web under
treatments that correspond with what protein markers your tumor has or
had.  God Bless hope that helps you.  Allan
