Suzzie59 and Almond123,
I am also new to Gleevec (one month)
for CML and have experienced foot and leg cramps, usually at night when
I'm trying to sleep and occasionally during the hour after taking my
pill (400mg). My platelets are also low, not high. I have been told, if
your red blood cells are low, the cramps may be from low oxygen to the
muscles. The best remedies that I have found are: drink lots of water
all day, eat half of a banana (potassium) before bed, and prop your
legs up on pillows. Good luck! cmlsam3

It helps you get through it all. Is anyone having Foot spasms or
cramping since on Gleevec. Mine went away for awhile, but now its
back. Don't know how to relieve it. I just let it work
itself out.
Hello suzzie59,
I'm
22 and got cml.. Was diagnosed 15 days ago.. I do have foot cramps but
it's not a regular one..Moreover the place where I have it also
changes!! Had it once before I started Gleevec-400mg.. A week before
Gleevec and when I asked my doc., he said that coz of blood clotting as
my platalet count was also 2-3 times more than max.. That's why I was
asked to take ecospirin-150mg daily.. It had subsided but 2 days before
I got it again..
Hi Almond123:
I found this
so odd to get a response a year later. I have not been on Cancer
Compass because nothing was going on where I could help someone.
I do not think the foot cramps was from a high platelet count. My
platelets run low, and I get them. Your very new with all
of this and so young. If you would like to send me a personal
e-mail, please do. Its
