Well i have a couple questions. i have had a blockage in my nose and a swollen lymph node in my throat for a couple yrs and the doctor passed it off as a sinus infection. the lump in my throat has never gotten bigger and i can swollow and talk fine but i have pain and pressure behind my eyes and in my face my upper teeth are painful and sometimes go numb. i have had numbness and tingling in my face but antibiotics seem to help that. i have both sided ear pain jaw pain and i went up to the ER room because i had twitching and burning in my ears and face but they did blood work which came back fine and sent me home. now a couple questions. If i had sinus cancer would something show up in my blood work and do my symptoms sound like cancer. anyone that can help or have a comment would be great thanks
Hello,
What you are describing can of course be a simple infection, or sinus problems. But it is pretty familar sounding from the HEAD AND NECK section of this message board, and my own personal experience.
I was told, and this is only what I was told, that blood work does not show head and neck cancers. Suggest for your own peace of mind that you get your doctor to make an appt. with an Ear Nose and Throat doctor as the first step. He/She will inspect your mouth and do a simple insert of a small tube with a very tiny camera down your nose into your throat to look at the area. There are a lot of things in there that you can't see from the outside. The back of the tongue (not the part you see when you stick out your tongue), the tonsils, etc.
Don't put this off, if it is nothing you can go on with your life and not worry any further. But should it be something, the earlier it is found the better and the cure rate is higher the earlier found.
Suggest you repost your message under Head and Neck category, you will find many people there who will be able to help. Best to you, D.
