My sweet beagle Lucy, will be put out of her pain in the morning. She was doing so very well until 4 days ago when she began vomiting a couple of hours after every meal. I took her to the vet, she drew blood samples and her kidneys are shutting down. She said I could take her home today, but to bring her back in the morning as she will start suffering. She is dehydrated now, not drinking anything. I did manage to get her to eat a piece of roast beef and that's it. She tried to get up, but is very unsteady. She just lies there going in and out of it. As I mentioned before, she is 13 years old, my best friend in the world and has seen me through the death of my daughter, her boyfriend, my sister. I would cry into her fur, she never left my side, EVER. Even today, when I left her for her lab work, as sick as she was, the vet called me with her results and said she started barking as soon as I left the office. I am sleeping next to her tonight and will take her in the morning. I told her to run to my daughter in the fields of Heaven. ( my daughter had a beagle that died in the car accident with her, so Lucy will already have a playmate. And my sister that died not long after my daughter had a beagle that my niece had to put to sleep 2 weeks ago ), so Lucy already has 2 beagle playmates in Heaven. Sorry for the long post, I am alone here right now with noone to "talk" to. Thanks for understanding and I'm sorry for anyone that is going through this right now.

Hi Cindy

I know how difficult this is for you but thank you for doing what is best for Lucy rather than putting your own needs first.  Your daughter will welcome Lucy with open arms and they both can watch over you from above.

I will say a special prayer for Lucy and you this evening and tomorrow.

Cindy--

You have been the best friend that Lucy could ever have hoped to have!!! She loves you so dearly because she KNOWS that you will always take care of her--no matter how much it hurts you.

I am so sorry for what you have been through and what tomorrow will be like for you; I hope that there is someone who will be with you to support you through this and that you won't have to be alone.  You and Lucy will be in our thoughts and prayers. I wish so much that there was something I could do to help you as I know how horrible tomorrow and the days to come will be for you.  You have had to bear so much pain; you must be incredibly strong.

Good luck and God bless you both.

Marty

I am so sorry to read about your losses.  But you have to be comforted by the knowledge that you are doing the best thing possible for Lucy.  A friend told me that "animals don't fear death, they only fear pain and suffering" when I had to put my 12 year old cvat to sleep.  I just recently had to put my 16 year old cat to sleep in the midst of my husband's battle with cancer.  It is so hard, but it sounds like you have been the best mom ever to Lucy.  She will be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for you and playing healthy and happy with her friends.

I'm asking my Juji, Hazard, Andy, Sebastian, Amos, Mordecai, Caliope, Shadow, CarMichael, Batcat and Wonderwoman to all be there to greet Lucy as well.  They are gonna have a great time helping those two little beagles welcome Lucy home!

Thank you for loving your faithful friend enough to see that she doesn't suffer.  She will always be there in your heart, watching over you ever.

Sincerely, Tre

I am so sorry that you have to face this so soon wih Lucy. You were so dedicated and committed to her care that I hoped that she would last quite a while for you. Cancer is a warrior that knows no boundaries. Life at times like this always seems especially unfair as well as sad. You have faced her illness with such strength and you will face her passing with the same quiet strength because it is who you are. Lucy would not have expected any less from you than to put your love for her and concern for her needs first. You are remarkable! You will be in my thoughts and prayers this weekend.
