I was diagnosed with hodgkins disease June 2. I have started my chemo and i have a total of 8 sessions. Im going on my 4th on the 14th of August. I had my 3rd one the 31st of july. But a couple days after my last treatment i started to feel a burning sensation where the tumor is...i asked the doctor they say thats normal...but now im starting to get really sharp pains in my chest and upper back and my breasts get really sharp pains as well. It hurt so bad this morning it woke me up at 5 am! i couldnt sleep it hurt so bad. Is this pain normal? i called my doctor and got a hold of her nurse i explained the pain to her and she said she will call me back after she talks to my doctor. She calls back and leaves a voice mail saying if im having trouble breathing i should go to the E.R. then she was babbling on about how her name is debbie but it was a different debbie i talked to earlier bla bla bla then she said if i have sharp pains in my chest or upper back i should go to the E.R. i just dont know if i should go or not...the pains hurt really bad to make me cry even but i dont have a hard time breathing. if this is normal during chemo i will just try to ignore it...if not i need to know so i can go to the E.R. Please HELP!!

hi.....im just at the end of my treatments for hodgkins....what type are u getting??? AVBD???  i had pain in my tumors in my chest in the beginning as well, but i also had respiratort attacks from the bleomycin.   i had to go to the ER and get those breathing treatments for asthma attacks.  pay attention to everything thats going on.... your body is always trying to communicate with you.

Sorry to hear about your suffering!  I went through 12 sessions of ABVD chemotherapy for Stage IIIB Hodgkins.  I had some minor pain in the infected lymph nodes but not enough to make me cry.  Please visit your doctor so they can evaluate if the pain is "normal" or something else.  The only time I had really bad pain was when they gave me booster shots for my white blood counts.  Those shots made my spine and joints ache really bad but only for a few days.  I knew after only 4 or 5 chemo treatments that my lymph nodes had decreased a lot in size.  After the 8th treatment my PET scan showed the cancer was gone.  The last 4 treatements were the most difficult.
