Can anyone help me?

I fear I may have bone cancer;  I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago and I feel I was misdiagnosed.  I was given corticortoids for severe back pain in my lower back, lumbar region, and the doctor's treatment was bedrest because he suspected I tore some tissue surrounding the iliac and spinal cord. The diagnosis seemed believable at the time, but now, I feel as if something is moving in the thoracic region of my back. What I would like to find out from someone is what does it feel like to have bone cancer?  I feel like there's a constant gnawing feeling on my spinal cord and at times, I feel like it protrudes out of my back, even though there is nothing there that's palpable. The pain is excruciating at times, and other times I feel less irritated by it. I know something is wrong, I just wanted someone who could tell me if bone cancer feels this way. Cancer runs in my family, especially non-hodgkins lymphoma. I'm going to request an MRI, but in the meantime, I would like to hear from a few of you to prepare myself if in fact there's something more serious here. Please respond...I can't talk to anyone else about this.  Thank you.

I have been diagnosed with NHL. The definitive diagnostic procedure was a CT Guided needle bone marrow biopsy. The symptom that ultimately lead to the diagnosis was clotting. I had unexplained blood clots over a 9 month period. My doc brought in a oncologist/hematologist to find the cause. After CT scans MRIs and PET Scans they did a lymph node biopsy which proved to be inconclusive and then the bone marrow biopsy which found the culprit.

I have occasional pain in my hip in the area below my spine. It's not at all severe and its infrequent. I am essentially asymptomatic at this point. I suggest that you get referred to an oncologyst. He or she will start the hunt for the cause of your pain. Be forewarned that you may spend up to a year testing for this.

Hi - If I were you I would request a tumor marker before getting all those other tests, it is a simple blood test. My husband has cancer to the bones and other places and he has had no pain.  You could be experiencing arthritis.  I wish you luck and a positive out come.  Idi

It sounds like you have back problems.I suggest you do as your doctor prescribed. Stay in bed until it has a chance to heal. 2 weeks at the very least, maybe longer if you don't feel relief.

Good Luck!
