Mother Diagnosed With Neuroendocrine Carcinoma

My mother was just diagnosed with neuroendocrine carcinoma. They have not found the primary tumor, but it has metastasized extensively to her liver. She lives in Kansas City, and there are no neuroendocrine tumor specialists in the area; her current oncologist does not have experience with NETs. Should we consult an NET specialist? And if so, who? I would sincerely appreciate any insight or advice.

Hello . I found your post quite interesting. I too am being treated with eptoside and carboplatin. I have had 4 sessions thus far. I also have colon cancer. However, because of my metastasis to my liver from the poorly differentiated neuroendocrine tumor we are doing chemo first. You wrote your tumor went from a grapefruit to a cashew......how are you doing today? Looking forward to hear from you.

Dr. Grieg in Toronto,Ontario Canada.  His office is at Princess Margaret Hospital Toronto.  He has done many whipple procedures.  He also does liver transplant. I would highly recommend him for advice or surgery.
