My sister was diagnosed with granulosa cancer 16 years ago. They gave her a hysterectomy. It reoccured in her spine, eradicated it with radiation and now it returned to her lungs. The BIG NEWS.-- A reseasher at Sloane Kettering suggested that she take the arthritic drug celebrex since the cox 2 inhibitors have been shown to cut the blood supply to the tumors. IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!! However, the tumors have remained in check for 5 years but the current oncologist wanted to try chemotherapy--combination of taxol and carboplatinum. We found out today that the chemotherapy did nothing for the tumors. They didnot shrink or grow but remainied the same size. WE are awaing for the next step. Could be back on the celebrex or ??? I will keep you posted. But---do not let the doctors poopoo the celebrex for the reason that they might not know about how effective it is. Let me know your thoughts about other types of protocl that anyone might be familiar with. God bless all of you.

BUT Vioxx and/or Tarceva were not effective as celebrex. Celebrex was the cox-2 inhibitor of choice for treating granulosa cell
