Hospital tomorrow

Tomorrow I go to hospital and on Wednesday they do a procedure for a filter to stop blood clots going into my other main organs. My blood clotting doctor did not want the filter because he said sometimes they are hard to retriever afterwards and if so I'd be on blood thinners the rest of my life, but if the filter comes out it would only be 6mths, but the surgeon said it wants it in, so I will be asking questions before they do it. My operation is on Thursday, so wish me luck. Thank you all for the great source of information on this board and a special Thank You to, doingjustfine, cyclist and Phil A. for all the support you've given me.

My husband Willy926 has joined the board to keep everyone updated. This has all been hard on him and will continue to be, as all you caregivers know, but remember we trully appreciate all you do for us, even if at times it does not seem like it.

Evelyn made it to the hospital yesterday, five hours after she was suppose to because of a bed problem.

I just came back from the hospital and right now Evelyn is really
scared. The anesthesiologist came and we talked to him and there may be
some complications to her operation.

Because she has a blood clot in her right lung they may have to
postpone the operation until they can do something about it. That is
because if they have to open her up on the left side they would have
to collapse her left lung and because the right lung is not getting
enough blood they can't do the operation.

She will also have to have a blood transfusion because this is going to
be an all day operation and she will lose a lot of blood. There can be
complications to a transfusion and so she will have to be watched very
carefully.

She will either be woken up on the operating table and then brought to
the recovery room or they will bring her to the recovery room and let
her wake up on her own and right now we don't know which it will be.

I may not be able to see her until Friday because she will be
spending the night in the recovery room and from what I understand
there are no visitors allowed so I hope that everything goes ok for her.

I will keep everyone posted as to how things turn out.

Willy

Thank you for the update Willy. I know Evelyn is scared. Anybody would be scared. I am praying that the surgery will go well with NO problems. I am sure Evelyn will be so relieved when she wakes up and gets to see you for the first time. Please do let us know when you can. Prayers to both of you,

                         Pat

I just got back from the hospital and while there I was able to talk to the doctor that operated on her and he said the operation went well and that there were no complications. I can not see her until at least 6:30 so I figured I would come home and take the dog out and feed myself :).

I will know more when I see her, but everything looks good and hopefully it will stay that way. Altogether it was a 6 hour operation and it was hard waiting to find out how it turned out. I haven't slept in two days because of worry, but I will sleep tonight.

The hospital is only 2.5 KM (1.6 miles) from here so I can bike it when the weather is good. They charge you $13.00 for parking no matter how long you stay there. Last night I was there only 2 hours and got chaged the $13.00 and the day before for 7 hours and still the same.

I haven't been on a bike in over 10 years now and I will tell you this, it was different. Hey if it saves me money and gives me exersize then why not.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and I will pass them on to Evelyn once she is able to understand. This is an awesome supposrt group and thank you for all your help given to my wife it means a lot to her and me as well.
