I was not able to see her last night because there was just too much going on there. I was a little upset, but hey that is life.

I did get to see her this morning tho (against regulations) and I will tell you this, she looks really good considering what all she has gone through. If she didn't have all the tubes and wires coming out of her, I would say that she looks better now than when she went in.

I was expecting worse case scenario, but she surprised that is for sure and she is definitely one tough cookie.I want to thank everyone who has helped her and given her information and made her more informed about all that was going to happen, I know that she appreciates it very much.

Once I am able to talk to the doctor and find out all that was done, I will update everyone.

Hi Willy,

It's great to hear that Evelyn is doing well. Tell her to keep it up. Do you know exactly what type of esophagectomy she had?

We are all pulling for her.

Good Luck and KEEP MOVING, (maybe you could take the long way home on your bicycle?)

Steve

Evelyn is not doing so good right now. Three times in the past day and a half her heart rate has shot to over 200+ beats per minute.

She now has an irregular heart beat as well as the heart also skips beats and they don't know what is going on with her because she was doing so good and they are watching her very closely.

I have yet to be able to talk to the doctor yet so I do not know exactly what they did, but they were suppose to take the whole esophagus out and pull her stomach up.

Then I come home and our dogs ear is bleeding again and there was blood all over the apartment. So many things to deal with at once.

Hi Willy - Hope everything's better with Evelyn.

When it rains it pours. I had husband in ER Christmas Eve around 1 AM. Thought I noticed water in laundry room that night but didn't think about it much with all else going on, and came up with supposed reason. Back to ER Christmas morning 1AM...came home to do load of laundry between runs to hospital Christmas morning.  Water everywhere...husband near dead in hospital (shipped off to Lahey that evening for emergency bowel resect almost tow years after Ivor-Lewis). I can relate. Hope dog is better, place cleaned up without too much trouble, and you get to talk to doctor about the surgery. Will keep you both in my prayers. Suya

Hi Willy,

I apologize for not checking in sooner...havent had the time to get in here in a few days.

I hope Ev is doing better from when you last posted.  and you hang in there too...i know things must be insane right now, but, keep in mind 'it will get better!'

I am currently awaiting surgery on spet. 2nd.  Like Ev, I am scared out of my mind....she has been a comfort as well as an inspiration to me.  My prayers are with you both...be well and God bless!

Hello,

I dont know if you still check this website or not but I will post anyway for the next patient or caregiver.  From my mom experience, it appears her body is lacking of ION electrolytes for her heart ie sodium, potassium, phosphate....  Initially, the cardiac dr only gave my mom a heart pill which did not help at all...

Other disease could contribute to this irregular heart beat too:

Thyroid, diabetes, high blood pressure, infection around the heart muscle or heart sac, or sleep apnea, or too much of drugs but low calorie intake.

Best wishes,

Regards,

Victoria
