So now the doc wants to start me on gemb. or topecatn...has anyone gone this route and had longer remission times? The doc said I might get 2 months remission from these drugs, like a knife in the heart, anyone do immunotherapy and get good results? Would appreaciate any info you would like to share,

Hi -

I did carboplatin and taxol when first dx'd in 2004. I went on carbo and gemzar when I relapsed and had an allergic reaction to the carbo. I stayed on the Gemzar for about 9 months or so and then disease progressed. I then went on Topotecan for about 6 months and disease progressed. The i was desensitized to the carbo and did three treatments. disease progressed again and now I am on Doxil. My CA-125 is coming down on Doxil. Everyone is different in how they react ot a certain drug. Doxil seems to be doing the most for me. Gemzar was fairly easy to tolerate and I did not lose my hair with that. I found Topotecan a little harder to deal with and I did lose my hair with it. Doxil  is the easiest so far and my hair is growing back.  I was dx'd stage IV in April 2004 and the  only drugs I take are Coumadin (I had a pulmonary embolism) Nexium, and the occasional Tylenol. I really do feel good and am always running around and doing something. I have learned to live with the "new me".

I wish you all the best on your journey and will  keep you in my prayers (along with so many others).

Diane T.
