Thyroglobulin level and thyrogen

Hello-
Had my 123 WBS today. It says that the uptake in my thyroid bed is 2.7%. Anyone know what that means. The doc I spoke with said it doesnt necessarily mean that I will have to do the 131...they will wait for the Tg level to come back and look and labs.
So, my question....since I have the thryogen shots but still took my levo, is this reading of my Tg considered unsuppressed?
My TSH read out at 100.
Thank you!!

The thyrogen shots are given while taking your meds.  I'm also on  Levoxyl and had and will have shots in the upcoming weeks.  The shots are enough to stimulate the TSH to measure if your thyroglobulin levels go up.  I learned that the TSH is actually produced by the pituatary (sp?) gland.  It is responsible for regulating the thyroid.  When the thyroid is gone and all thyroid tissue or disease is not present once stimulated by the injections your thyroglobulin numbers should be 0 or under 2.  If the number is higher that may mean there is some process remaining that is responding to the stimulation.  Kind of interesting.  Hope this helps.

That means that you still have some thyroid tissue left.  I believe I was told by my nuc. med. people that a normal functioning thyroid will uptake like 14-20% (approximately--I am sure the numbers vary) of the I-123.  Personally I think my uptake was like a 1.6%.  They use the percentage amount of your uptake of I-123 to calculate how much I-131 to use in order to ablate your remaining thyroid tissue--if needed.  I think my dosage was about 162 millis.

My TSH level at the time of RAI was 159.  When I had my blood tested a few weeks ago it was like a 6.86 or something like that so my synthroid was upped.

Take care.
