My mom had a large retroperitoneal liposarcoma (11 lbs) and her left kidney removed in September 2007.

The tumor came back in August 2008 and was removed again in September..... It only took another 4 months before its 3rd recurrence, and now the doctor suggested that we try radiation or chemo because surgery is not worth it in his opinion.

We intend to trail Yondelis, which has pretty good results for retroperitoneal liposarcoma as per its manufacturer.

I wish to know if it is the same drug being used by your husband. Hang in there!

My husband is on phase 1 "Nutlin"--an MDM2 inhibitor and good results. No new sarcomas. Also, no side effects of the Nutlin. There are about 4-5 centers using this. I am not familiar with Yondelis. Chemo did not work with his sarcoma. We tried about 6 flavors. The one chemo they wanted to try they could not because he only had the one kidney. So much out there has nasty side effects with kidney. Best of luck to your mom. I will lift her in her fight with this disease.

Hello, nutlin is being used for variety of sarcomas--his is liposarcoma and de-differentiated. It has been wonderful, no side effects at all. We are in a trial at MD Anderson. To my knowledge, Memorial Sloan Kettering, University of TX @ San Antonio, Aurora Colorado and maybe one other center. Please keep in touch! Thank you for your message. Gingagal

It is more difficult for mom - My mom lives in China and I am in Canada, either country has approved Yondelis for liposcarcoma.  I am trying to get the drug from its manufacturer for the porpose of compassionate use or from one of the countries approved it (EU, South Korea, Russia and likely Singapore).

What kind of liposarcoma you have? I know MLS is especially sensitive to Yondlis.

Nutlin-3 is very promising from what I have read, and it could be suitable for almost all types of cancer. I know it is made by Roche pharmaceuticals in NJ but have trouble to get it.

Can you tell me the name of the doctor at MDAnderson offering nutlin trail? I sent an inquiry to MDA.  They said that they are not aware of it.... I could not find the trail from either the MDA  web or NCI web.

My husband was on nutlins last summer and was taken off the trial due to tumor growth. Do you know the dosage of medicine your husband is being given. Thanks Barbara
