Has anyone had bladder cancer start in their kidneys first? my hubby had his right one removed and now the cancer is in his bladder--we just finished 6 weeks of BCG/with INerferon and he has sores all over his mouth--like cold sores--he goes back in 1 week for a biopsy to see if there are any living cancer cells and then we go from there--but this all started in his right kidney--it's call "transitonal cell carcinomia"--if anyone has experienced this or anything like this i would love to read your story. --pam

Hi,
I feel for you. The bladder cancer we had was confined and we hope it doesn't move. I was plenty scared too. If it comes back I will be there again.
We ask for prayers. I feel that helped us get through all we had to go through. We you start waking the medical thing, you get numb or better and just do what you have to do.
First find the best doctor for this your insurance and do. We love Kansas City Dr. Thrasher but I have heard that cancer treatment centers in OK are just as good. The one in OK adds super nutriton to help the immune system-not a bad idea.
The surgery was not easy but it was better than we expected. We are still learning. We did this in April 05. He is back to work and doing well. He is 57. It is do able.
Could you bladder cancer have gone to Kidney from the bladder???
Mouth sores are a side effect of chemo. Some are thrush-like a baby would get. How about some yogert.

First of all, I understand you are scared. That is normal and certainly understandable. I am a single, 46  female with diagnosed with Transitional Cell and now it is in my bladder. I was diagnosed in 2000 and informed it was in and had started, in my right kidney. After a radical nephrectomy and BCG, and testing and proceedures every three months I am still alive. My surgeon is fantastic and I would recommed that you take your husband to MAYO clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. George Chow is awesome!! I had a very very slim chance of survival and with the grace of GOD and Dr. Chow's ability I am doing well. I go to MAYO every three months for testing and I am so very grateful to them. A lot of people think it is real expensive but it is actually cheaper than most local hospitals, because it is a teaching facility. They also work with you on payments. If you would like more information, go to www.mayoclinic.org or you may email me at Sonnieintl@aol.com  I will keep you and your family in my prayers. There is HOPE and if you are not at MAYO Clinic, you should seriously consider jumping in your car and going there immediatley! GF
