Just wanted to say thank you to all who post here.  As I write this with tears streaming down my face, my mom's 2 1/2 year battle with stage 4 NSCLC with mets to brain, bone and liver is about to come to an end.  We have in-home hospice, which has been wonderful, especially with my dad who is not taking this well at all.  Cancer is about to claim it's next body.  She fought hard and long.  Sometimes we'd win and sometimes it would win.  The scans are over, the treatments only a memory.  I wish a strong and courageous battle in which I hope YOU are the victor, not the victim.  It may have taken her body but it never had her soul.  Thank you for the support on this sight.  The battle continues.

Gretchen

She passed peacefully at home with family by her side and yes I agree that Hospice are angels on Earth!  They took care of my mom with dignity, respect and treated her like a person, even though her memory was gone.  I encourage anyone trying to battle this f*^#ing disease to contact them when it's time.  They are a great help when you need to rest and you loved ones needs to be cared for.  I am so glad she is out of pain and is running with her dad and the numerous dogs, cats and horses that were waiting for her when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  I am greatly saddened by her passing and for the fact that my brother and sister, out of towners, weren't able to be there when she passed, but I told her they loved her and it was time for her to go.  I make be saddened at her passing, but after a long battle, I feel a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders knowing she's in a better place, pain free. Those of you who have gone through this, you are the veterans; those of you going through this, you are the soliders; and those of you about to start, you have the access to knowledge and expertise of this website to help you through.  Take care and God Bless.
