Medication for Appetite?

My Dad has Stage IV Colon Cancer and he is on his 3rd round of 5FU+ Oxiplaitin+Erbitux.  He is finally starting to lose his appetite. 

Any suggestions?  Are there any medications you could recommend that help to increase appetite?  He does not have nausea, he is just losing his appetite.  Another woman suggested that he should "graze" throughout the day on small snacks rather than sit down for a dinner with the family.  Any other suggestions?  Anything would help,

My husband had to cook or fix something for me that I couldn't smell.  It was like the feeling when you are pregnant.  If I smelled it I couldn't eat.  I too was stage iv cc.  I tried drinking ensure or something similar.  This is a hard question as what to do because everyone is different.  Good luck and I hope the best for all of you.

My husband has Primary CNS and the chemo drug Temodar took his appetite away.  We have had good results from a drug called marinol.  This helped increase his appetite enough so the weight loss he was experiencing slowed down to ounces lost weekly instead of pounds.  Good luck to you.

Have your oncologist prescribe him Megace (Generic is Megestrol). It is a liquid and he can drink a 20ml (small capful) dose every morning. It has helped tremendously with my partner's appetite (gastric cancer, 19 months). Smoking the herb form also helps but that is a whole other conversation. Best of luck to your Dad.......

My wife was dx on Dec last year (metz to the liver), she had 15 round of chemo...at the end was Folfiri+Erbitux. She also lost her appetite...the doc gave her promirtryl...one pill at night....helped her to sleep well, lower down anxiety and increase appettite...it worked great for her...she was at 42 kilos...today she is at 53 kilos...she eats a lot...it is kind of dangerous.jajaja
