Everolimus 24th day

Felipe is on his 24th day with Everolimus (RAD001) and the side effects are much worse than any of the previous meds. he has been on, lots of mouth sores, like a prickly heat rash on his arms and legs, his hands are skinning and he has severe pains in his bottom which travel down his legs and up his back so he can’t sit but only lie down. I am sure he has the same reaction in his colon as the sores in his mouth. He is taking painkillers for the tumour in the lung and fractured rib and maybe that is also helping the other problems. Monday 2 weeks ago was a very bad day and he had to have an injection to calm things down and once again last Saturday, he had to go to emergency for yet another 2 injections, as the pain was so bad in his bottom. We went to see the onc. Monday 1st Sept and she gave him Hebro cream (administered like an enema) and we had to go back today as he could not tolerate this med. After a painful examination, they decided to suspend Everolimus until next Thursday on his next visit and prepared a new cream in the pharmacy, as they believe he has a fistula, which must disappear before they let him back on Everolimus. Now he has painkillers, sleeping pills, mouth jell, blood pressure pills, stomach protector pills, daily wash in the bidet with vinegar and sugar and the new cream, apart from Everolimus.

He feels much better tonight after 2 sessions of the new cream, but still very uncomfortable to sit down. Tomorrow we are going to try to go out for lunch with the group association we are in.  Will keep you posted on what happens next.

God bless and a big hug to all

Vickie

Hi Vickie,

I know nothing about Everolimus (my husband is on Torisel), but I just wanted to say it sure sounds like Felipe is going through a lot right now.  I will be keeping you both in my prayers.  My husband has had a horrible time with mouth sores on Torisel, and one thing he found that helps is drinking Ginger Ale.  It  gives him the fizz like a regular soda, but the ginger seems to be a little soothing for him, and it's something that doesn't seem to bother the mouth sores.

Tell Felipe there are lots of people out here who care, and hang in there!
